* There are many choices in this segment, all of them with solid capabilities. What sets the 2014 Sequoia apart is its great powertrain, advanced features and the peace of mind of Toyota quality and reliability. Source: KBB.com

* If you need the people hauling and pulling power afforded by a large SUV, but do not want to sacrifice style or comfort, then purchasing the 2014 Toyota Sequoia makes perfect sense. The tallest, widest, and longest SUV in Toyota's fleet, the Sequoia has aerodynamic, yet muscular curves that give it a sense of refinement combined with extreme confidence. It possesses a long wheelbase that improves the quality of the ride, enhances interior space, and helps directional stability as well. It is offered in 3 trims: the SR5, Limited and the top-of-the-line Platinum. All trims share a 5.7-Liter i-FORCE V8, with 381 Horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of Torque, paired with a 6-speed Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence. All come with Rear-Wheel drive standard, or you can get Multi-Mode four-wheel drive as an option. The interior has a modern look, that is instantly intuitive with easy to grasp controls, with everything within reach. Extremely roomy, the Sequoia includes plenty of comfortable space for families, and a reclining 3-row. You can seat a total of eight passengers in the SR5 and Limited, and the Platinum seats a maximum of seven. Plus, the 2nd and 3rd rows in the SR5 and Limited both fold flat to create 120.1 cubic feet of cargo room. The base SR5 features generous standard features like 3-zone automatic climate control, 8-way driver's and 4-way front passenger's seats, roof rack, power tilt/slide moonroof, leather-trimmed steering wheel with Bluetooth hands-free telephone controls, and 18-inch alloy wheels. New for 2014, the Sequoia SR5 gets the Entune Audio Plus system, the Limited gets Entune Premium Audio, and the Platinum gets Entune Premium JBL Audio. Standard safety features include Power-assisted 4-wheel Anti-lock Brakes, Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Control, an array of airbags, Smart Stop Technology and more. Extremely reliable and comfortable vehicle, which has hauled horse trailers and everything else all over the Midwest, moved two kids to college, helped move Grandma and Grandpa. With very, very few problems, one or two electronic glitches.

We have used this car to haul equipment and people for many out of state travel tournaments for our children. We have also taken it on long distance family vacations. This is a super comfortable car on the freeway and has a ton of cargo space. The gas mileage is not great , but it’s a bonus that you can put 87 gas in it. The seats are super comfortable in the first and second row. The technology is not great , but I just hook my phone up to the usb and use it instead of the included nav. I am looking forward to many more years of hauling family in a comfortable cruiser for years to come!
  • Quality and long term dependability.

This is the second Toyota Sequoia that I have owned. Previously I owned a 2011 that had 100k miles on it in 6-7 years. The 2018 adds a lot of new safety equipment and overdue upgrades such as LED headlights and fog lights. We have three growing kids and a German Shepherd Dog. Thus, the full size third row seat is a necessity. There is no other SUV that is made that has this amount of interior room as well as adult seating in the third row. There is only two major concerns: MPG is 13-17. On our 2011 Sequoia we averaged 13 b/n city and highway. On the 2018 we are averaging 14.5. This might be because it is newer. The other SUVs play around with variable valve "voodoo" and 10 speeds vs 6. This can get an additional 3-5 mpg depending on the competitor. Here is the difference, 12k a year in miles at $2.35 @ 14 mpg = $2,015 a year in gas; versus 19 mpg for a smaller vehicle with less seating/comfort which would run you $1,485 a year. That is an extra $530 a year in gas to own this versus something smaller. If you only own this for 4 years than its only $2k in gas over the ownership life. Not too big of a deal when put in perspective. My wife loves this truck so much because it is easy to drive and has air ride (platinum model) that allows for the raising of the truck for sport or comfort mode. Awesome features like this make this a sleeper. The engine is "bullet proof" and will last a million miles. Just look at YouTube on the million mile Tundra; same engine that the Landcruiser and Sequoia has in it. Second issue is the small size Nav screen and no apple or android car play. Entune suite of software is fine but a bigger screen would be appreciated. My wife doesn't care because she uses her smartphone plugged into the USB port and uses WAZE or Google Maps. If you are able to find last years model with huge rebates (like we just did) or a DEMO then buy it! You won't be disappointed.
